Question:

Carpent cleaning, any secrets?

I have 2 kids and navy blue color carpeted floors. I have anything from food to marker ink ground in to the carpet. i tried one of those "rent - a - steam cleaner". A rug doctor, i think it was, and it did nothing. I've read reviews that Resolve High Traffic foam doesn't work. I was going to try that since it's a "trusted" house hold name. Any secrets or products that will work?

  1. Whenever we clean our carpet, we use an old sock and put some detergent on it and get cleaning, works really well getting out stains and all...

  2. Hi,

There are a lot of reviews on a variety of products here:

The standout is an eco-friendly product (#20 out of ~800+) called "Earth Friendly Products Carpet Shampoo"

Sounds like its a favorite for pet owners.  and is available at Drugstore.com

  3. I would not use any foam on your carpet or upholstery because they are not water soluble and you will have a sticky chemical that cause that area to re-soil very quickly and trap the fatty oils and bacteria in the carpet. You will not be able to remove the food stains because they are made up of protein and nature does not allow detergents and chemicals to breakdown proteins. Traditional carpet cleaning can't remove the fatty oils that bonds the soil and encapsulates (protects) bacteria either. You have to use an organic process to get your carpet completely clean. Check out the website listed to learn more.

As for the ink, it has most likely over taken the original navy dye stuffs used to color the carpet fiber. You can use cuticle scissors to trim the ink stained strands.
