Carpenter Ants Invasion! Help!

Question

I live downstairs of my landlord's house and it appears that he has put white powder around the house to kill the carpenter ants problem. But they are invading my apartment. They don't seem to go after the food but everywhere else. How do I get rid of them? Someone told me that the ant traps at the local store will not work on carpenter ants.

We had this problem at our cabin.  You have to go to a supermarket and buy some Borax (detergent isle).  Then at home put a paper towel on the floor put a pile of the Borax on it and sprinkle a little amount of sugar around the pile.  You can do this wherever you need to.  It worked for us.  They are attracted to the sugar then grab the Borax and take it back to the nest and the rest of the ants eat it and die.

Try placing corn meal around.  They will take it back to the nest and eat it, but can't digest it and it kills them.
