What are some home remedies you can do to "shampoo" your carpet if you don't have the actual carpet shampoo? Can you use other cleaning products like windex? Any suggestions?

  1. Even when I use a carpet cleaner I use Tide with bleach. I have white carpet

  2. You are in luck as I just ran across this problem today.  I have a Kirby, so I just used laundry detergent.  I figured it cleans fabric and carpet is fabric.

For the cost, I'm going to keep using my laundry soap (liquid).

I also pretreated spots with a cheap spot treatment.

  3. My Aunt using windex for cleaning almost everything. Never has a problem with it. I wouldn't use it for cleaning carpet.

  4. I would not use Windex - you can actually use your everyday laundry detergent diluted with 2 parts water.  This will make a foam - then after you scrub with a brush - then rub the spots off with clean old towels - use lots of them.

Be sure to vacuum your carpet well beforehand.
