have been trying to get a carpet for my stairs and landing , just want a decent lasting carpet that doesnt cost too much £145 with fitting for any carpet up to £7 per meter, went to storey carpets , what a joke , they want £270 for a carpet costing much less, they also claim i need underlay on the stairs even tho i have no intention of moving and if i ever did the carpet prob would not fit different stairs anyway

is it better and chaeper to go to one of the smaller privately owned shops , do they charge less than bigger stores , or should i ring someone from paper? i need help on this one

also do i need underlay as they say or is it just a scam to make more money , what would i need it on the stairs for?

  1. spend more on the underlay than the carpet.  it will last longer than an expensive carpet and cheap underlay.

  2. hi, always have a look on the web first as you can save quite some money. if you use underlay ,you can get away with a thinner carpet and probably cheaper, but it gives the impression of being a more expensive carpet and also underlay is a great noise insulator.
