Carpet height selector doesn't work.

Question

The Eureka Boss has a clear housing for the beater brush and no matter how high I adjust the carpet selector, the brush always stops rolling when it hits the carpet. I keep having to tilt the vac bac to get any kind of beating action out the brush. I'm sure I could up the housing with any trouble, but I'd like to know what I'm looking for.
