Question:

Carpet or mat for the kitchen

What sort of removable mat or carpet would you recommend to place on the kitchen floor on top of some unsuitable carpet tiles that were stuck there by someone. Eventually I hope to be able to replace the tiles themselves, but in the meantime I'd like something that could be cleaned easily of course and placed on top of the tiles. The mat/carpet would not need to cover the whole of the floor, only about 5ft x 4ft. max. Thanks.

  1. Get a stain proff area rug. If you can't find a stain proof one, get on that you like and then treat it with scotch gaurd.

You may also be able to find one of the larger vinyl mats like you would put under rolling chairs on carpet.

  2. I say mat easier to clean.

  3. Stick with machine washable, rubber backed rugs.  Anything 5x4 ft probably won't fit in your washer and a rug in the kitchen is going to need cleaning at least once a week.  If the floor under the carpet tiles is level and clean check into peel and stick tiles that look like stone.  They're easy to put down and very inexpensive. It's a good temporary fix.  I did it once in an older home and it lasted five years easy!!

  4. none   but if u have to ave 1 mats

little 1 so u can wash them

  5. They sell very cheap acyrlic rugs that are able to be spot cleaned at the WalMart and Big Lots.  Look for the latex backed ones because they will stay put and not curl at the edges or become a trip hazzard.  Because they are acyrlic, they are easy to keep clean and you can use almost any carpet cleaner and even dish soap to spot treat them.  I have had one in my garage for many years and have spilled everything from oil to detergent on it, tracked mud and grass over it and it all cleans off easily.

  6. get  lino, it is easier to keep  clean,

carpets get  stained  very quickly and mats  are  dangerous ,

you , can slip and hurt  yourself,

    be  very  careful,

  7. yeah i say mat

  8. I would say mat, but a washable one, maybe a non slip bathroom mat that is machine washable, as most kitchen mats are rigid and would be difficult to clean, whereas a bathroom mat can go in the wash machine.  Primark has really good value ones!

  9. mat.
