Carpet washer "lost" in post?

Question

I bought a carpet washer on Ebay. The seller said it was sent R.M.standard parcel on Feb 15. They said they can't check on it with the post office until 15 days after posting and it would be considered lost.They said they don't have a tracking number What are the chances that something that big could be lost?
