In April of this year I had a vinyl floor fitted by Carpet-right PLC . Carpet right acted as agents for 2 fitters to lay the floor for me . Since the floor has been laid I have noticed within the last few weeks that there are lumps forming near the doors where the vinyl has been laid . Am I within my rights to ask Carpet right to bring the fitters back out and sort out the problem . If so on what grounds

  1. When a carpet or in your case, vinyl flooring, are laid, it is as you would expect, fitted. But some carpets/vinyl stretch/expand, in use. In my experience it has always been up to the householder to have the flooring recut and stretched to fit at their expense if this happens.

  2. I think you should try to get Carpet Right to sort out the problem and send the fitters back to correct their work that is not of a good standard. However, some time ago I had some complaints about a carpet laid by Carpet Right and the company were very unhelpful. I hope you have better luck!

  3. A job has to be fit for its purpose and as described etc.  I would get more advice from consumerdirect.gov.uk.
