Question:

Carpool lanes and newborn babies?

Note: I had asked the same question under the category newborn babies, which I got mixed answers of Yes and No's so I thought of asking it here. If it helps any for fellow Officers - I live in the State of California.

This might be a silly question, but I'm a first time mom and a very responsible driver that I had to ask this question (see above) because I was curious. I know drivers must have 2 or more passengers in the car to drive in the carpool lane, but would a newborn baby count as the 2 or more category or would I have to have a child that is over a specific age to be considered as 2 or more? Please explain.

  1. The baby qualifies as a person so the HOV lanes are yours.

    Congratulations, by the way!

  2. Yes any live BODY counts as two. Congradulations...and you can always double check at work. Be safe & thank you.
