Veteran Liverpool defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 believed that the Reds illustrious history has not created extra pressure on the squad, and it is something which is not in their minds ahead of their FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.
The Reds have won the English league title on 18 occasions and also have five European silverwares to their name. They will go head-to-head with the Blues in the Cup final on the 5th of May, in a bid to achieve a domestic cup double this season,
having already hoisted the Carling Cup trophy in February.
When asked if the Reds glorious past will add an extra bit of pressure on the players before the showpiece final, he responded by negating the suggestion, and mentioned that his side had only set their focus on the game.
He said in a press conference, “You just go out and play. You play for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. We're aware of the past but you don't think about that leading up to the game.”
Despite enjoying stupendous success in the cup competitions this season, the Reds have witnessed one of their worst Premier League campaign in almost sixty years. On Tuesday, they suffered their fourth home defeat of the season against Fulham, and currently
find themselves at the eighth spot in the table.
Nevertheless, the English International felt that a FA Cup triumph will serve as a much needed redemption for his side, and will reflect a successful season on the whole.
“We've got one this season, if we get two... We've been in three competitions this season, if we win two I think it's a great season.” He added.
The 34-year old also admitted that the FA Cup final will be a bigger stage than the League Cup and was unfazed at the possibility of missing out on a place in the Reds starting eleven in the game.
“We all win together. It doesn't matter who plays, who's on the bench, who comes on. We win together. If we win, it'll say Liverpool won and we're all part of the club.”
