Liverpool stalwart, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728, has revealed that the ongoing Premier League season could be the last of his career.
The English International admitted that he is of little value to the Merseyside club now, as Martin Skrtel and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 were doing a fantastic job in his place. Hence, he said that he won’t be surprised if the club refuses to hand him a new deal at the
end of the term.
Carragher has entered into the final year of his contract at Anfield. So far, the Reds have not offered him a new package.
Although the defender has made 7 league appearances this campaign, he has been used more in the Europa League matches by manager, Brendan Rodgers.
Carragher, who started his football career at the Liverpool youth academy, has represented Liverpool in a staggering 717 matches in all competitions. Since making his debut way back in 1996, the only club jersey that he has worn is the one with the Reds
insignia on it.
However, now having reached the twilight of his career, the 34-year old has hinted that he might take retirement from professional football by the end of the season.
He unravelled that his current contract is nearing its expiry date and thus far, Liverpool have not offered him a new spell. “There is a chance that I will retire at the end of the season,” he told the reporters in an interview.
