Veteran Liverpool defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 mentioned that he was sad to hear the news of Kenny Dalglish’s sacking by the club’s owners on Wednesday, but vowed to help the new manager build on the foundations laid down by the Scott.
Dalglish managed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in 74 games during his second spell, after taking over the management from Roy Hodgson in January last year.
The Merseyside club has already started the search for the new Anfield manager, with Andre Villas Boas, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 and Rafa Benitez being considered as the leading contenders for the post.
However, the English International revealed that he was deeply aggrieved over the Scott’s ouster. He believed that Dalglish had done all the ground work during his second managerial stint at Liverpool of about 16 months, and that it was now up to the new
management and the players to restore the club’s lost dominance.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I spoke to him just before he was getting on his flight and asked: 'Is it Kenny now or gaffer?' He said: 'It is Kenny now.”
“I am sorry to see him go, but that is football.”
Currently, Carragher is the most senior member in the Liverpool squad. During his lengthy stint with the Reds, which now spans over 16 years, he capped a staggering 699 appearances for Liverpool. He was also a part of the Reds Champions League winning team
in 2005.
The 34-year old, who has weathered multiple ups and downs during his career, offered his full commitment to whoever gets appointed as the new manager. He also urged his side to set aside the sorrow of Dalglish’s departure, and to look forward towards the
next season.
He remarked, “We respect the owners decision and we have to look forward now. I will be fully committed to whoever the manager is.”
Meanwhile the Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez posted a message on his Twitter page in which he revealed that he had learnt a lot from the Scott under his management, and wished him luck for the future.
