http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 has insisted his team can quickly come to grips with Brendan Rodgers playing philosophy, despite their disappointing defeat against West Bromwich Albion in the league opener.
The Anfield outfit hired the services of the Northern Irishman earlier in June, in view of his impressive stint at Swansea City and his modern day coaching techniques.
However, the debate of whether his playing ethos can be successfully implemented at the Merseyside club or not were rekindled, after the Reds took a real beating from the Baggies at the Hawthorns last week.
After the game, the Ulsterman cast a warning shot towards the fans not to set unrealistic expectations with their team in his debut season in charge.
Given the enormity of the task of re-establishing Liverpool’s dominance at the top of English football, many people have been left to believe that Rodgers will require a couple of years to successfully execute his ideas at Anfield.
Carragher had a different say on the matter. He believed that the Reds can quickly accustom themselves to their manager’s innovative coaching techniques, and felt that their performance against West Brom was a one-off thing.
The English International is reported to have said, “It doesn't have to be a slow process. Pre-season's gone really well, obviously we've got a bit of a bump at West Brom.”
Liverpool beat Hearts 1-0 in a Europa League qualifier on Thursday. The 34-year old was quick on citing their impressive pre-season, and their win against the Scottish side as a sign of progression, but admitted their next game against Manchester City on
Sunday will be of paramount importance to them.
He continued, “It was nice to come here, it was a difficult game, we've got the result now and now we look forward to Man City. It's a massive game, and as I said, a new manager coming in, finding his feet if you like and we're all getting used to each other.”
The veteran Reds defender was also impressed with the academy talent which was making its way into the squad, and tipped Raheem Sterling and Adam Morgan to become future Liverpool stars.
