Liverpool defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 revealed that he was looking to impress the newly selected Reds boss, Brendan Rodgers ahead of their new campaign.
The English International, who has capped a staggering 699 appearances for the Merseyside club, is expected to face a tough task of securing a place in Rodgers unit, given his old age and the fact that the club are likely to make a couple of new signings
during the summer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 sacked their former manager, Kenny Dalglish as a result of the Reds dismal eighth place finish in the league last season.  Consequently, the Kop legend was replaced by Rodgers at the start of June, in view of the latter’s phenomenal spell at Swansea
and the eye catching playing style that he introduced in the Premier League.
With talks already underway as to who will fit into Rodgers’ plans for the club, the 34-year old unravelled his ambition of catching the attention of the new manager, and vowed to work hard during the training sessions to cement his place in the squad.
While talking to reporters, he said: “You want to impress the manager and show him you are a good player and that you deserve to be in his team or in his plans. You've always got to try and prove yourself.”
Carragher also opined that Rodgers arrival at Anfield had presented an opportunity for the entire squad to seek a fresh start altogether, and everyone was buoyed up to make an impression in the upcoming season.
The defender has won multiple laurels with Liverpool during his lengthy career, which now spans over a period of 16 years. He won two FA Cup and three League Cup titles with the Reds, and was also a part of their Champions League winning team in 2005.
Despite having gathered the experience of playing in the local league and intercontinental competitions, Carragher revealed that he has learnt a few more things from his manager regarding how to improve his game even further.
“Even as a player my age, you can learn certain things, and in the last few weeks I've picked up different things off the manager.”
