Kona are most definetely one of the most famous bike brands, however Carrera do have a reputation for extremely strong frames, as well as good suspension set-ups. Go for Kona for brand kudos, but I'd recommend Carrera as a cheaper (ish!) option for the same kind of quality. Also Carrera is a more readily/widely avaliable brand

the kona is prolly the better / sought after brand and probbley more expensive but u cant knock the carreras for value for ya cash,  iv had a carrera road bike for about a year cost about £300 and just upgraded to a £700 trek & the trek aint that much better but it is much lighter,  you will get a good solid build quality from the carrera with good reliable parts but dont know 2much about the konas

i have  actually have both bikes mountain bikes and to be honest people go for kona as its already a well known name but when i put both my bikes next to each other the spec is very similar i bought the carrera as a back up bike for when my kona's in the shop both bikes are very well built and theres all room for upgrading like on any bike you buy :-)
