Carrick admits to frustration
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has admitted that he has found the start of the season very frustrating.
Carrick has not been able to get a place in the Manchester United starting team for any match they have played so far this season. He says he knows he must be patient and wait for his chance.
The main reason for this has been the good form of other players at the club. Paul Scholes looks to be in better form than ever before and has no intention of retiring just yet even though he is well into his 30s.
Carrick has just got to play the waiting game because he will be given a chance to play at some point in the near future. It's important he doesn't let his frustrations boil over because this can mean problems within the club, which United do not need.
The waiting game
There is no reason for a manager to change a winning system or a system that is producing results. This means that the best player in the world can be on the fringes of the team, the manager is not likely to disrupt a side while it's doing well.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is the most experienced manager currently in the game and he will know precisely how to keep Carrick happy and interested. Deep down Carrick will know this and it will counter any negative feelings he currently has.
Carrick has the opportunity to show off his skills and attributes every single day during training. This gives the player a chance to try and push for a starting spot so Carrick knows it's not a complete certainty that he will not play each week.
Carrick said: "It's obviously frustrating not playing football, but it's a long season and I'm well aware of how strong a squad we've got. It's about being patient and trying to force my way back into the team. The manager trusts the squad he's got and we trust each other."
Keep a lid on it
Carrick has got to keep a lid on things even if he does feel very frustrated and annoyed. The worst possible thing that he could do is shoot himself in the foot because Ferguson is the exact sort of manager to make a player sit in the stands for an unnecessary rant in the media.
There could also be friction created among the playing squad. There are players at Manchester United who all want to be in the first team but they choose to accept their current situation and work hard to make it much better.
Carrick added: "It's important that we have the experienced players in the squad who have done it all before but that doesn't count for an awful lot going into the new season. It's going to be tough, as it is every year, but that's the challenge and that's why we're all at a club like United."
Betting advice
Manchester United are gifted to have so much class in the middle of their team. Carrick will eventually start a game in the Premier League or in another competition and the skill he possesses means that very little will change.
Back the side to win in any competition if that was your intention. Carrick will maintain and enhance United's chances of winning on different fronts so there is no need to change your pattern of thinking. He will also pop up with a goal every now and then but take each match as it comes in relation to this bet.
