Carrigeen Kariega aims for the season victory in the Munster Supporters Club Mares Maiden Hurdle at Limerick
Limerick is to host the Munster Supporters Club Mares Maiden Hurdle over two miles and three furlongs on Monday, 19th March. The race has attracted a lineup of eighteen five-year and older entries and the winner will be presented with the €6,
900 purse.
Sustaining performance through the four starts undertaken during the new season is Carrigeen Kariega, Luso’s seven-year-old bay mare out of mare Carrigeen Kerria. She has scored second in three of the four races which she was a part of.
Her seasonal debut was in the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Mares Winner Of Two on 15th January at Killeagh over three miles. The race was won by The Blarney Rose who led the track of seventeen by twelve lengths. Following right at the
heels of the winner was Carrigeen Kariega with J.R. Lalor onboard.
Settling third was the 11/4 favourite of the race, Cnoc Seoda.
She missed the second start of the season by finishing fifth behind Captain Canada on 12th February in the Pats Bar, Newbridge, Askeaton Winner Of One 4YO + at Askeaton over three miles.
Carrigeen Kariega bounced back into form in the Horse And Jockey Mares Irish National Hunt Flat Race on 1st march at Thurles over two miles. She joined the winner, Dantes Firth, by a very narrow margin of ¾ of a length. It was a victory lost by
a highly insignificant mark.
Concluding the race third was Kymin’s Way while the 9/4 favourite of the race, Casablanca Lily finished sixth in line behind the winner.
Even the fourth outing of the season could not translate into a win as she was yet again positioned as a runner up. The Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle on 8th March at Clonmel over two miles and four furlongs was won
by Dangan Daylight. He had three lengths under his charge.
Catching up with the third position was Moyas Charm while Beef To The Heels, the 4/5 favourite of the race ended fifth.
Carrigeen Kariega is moving ahead with her fifth venture of the new season today and it is high time that she notches the second position into a victory.
