Carrigeen Lonicera looks favourite for Flat Race – Limerick Preview
Carrigeen Lonicera is expected to make a big impact at Limerick racecourse where she will run for the ace title of Greenmount (Ladies) Mares Inh Flat Race on Monday, March 19.
The high-stakes contest of 2m distance contains huge prize money worth €6,900. The action will start 5:10 (GMT).
The R. H. Lalor-trained bay mare is geared up to compete against Scrapper Jack, Cuteasafox, Just A Butterfly, Made You Look, Sweet Maria, Top Madam, Vic Chic, Cherish The Pear and Summer Star.
Carrigeen Lonicera gained a lot of momentum and confidence by finishing first in her last outing on February 26, 2012. She was 7-4 favourite for that race.
Prior to this, she had notched up third and second spots in two back-to-back outings on January 29 and February 12.
Thus, the maverick mare has been enjoying great form since the very beginning of the calendar year. The six-year-old brilliant runner elegantly finished third in her maiden race on November 27, 2011.
At this moment, the novice runner is awash with form. The way she has performed in last three races shows that she is going to unleash a big run in today’s contest.
Carrigeen Lonicera’s chances to finish first are as high as 90 percent provided she perpetuates her winning momentum and reads the ground condition meticulously.
Out of the hot-favourite runner’s rivals, Made You Look and Summer Star are likely to perform well today.
Made You Look marvellously grabbed top spot in her maiden outing on May 7, 2011. Paul Nolan’s bay mare went on to finish first against 15 runners in the second and last race of her career on December 11. Thus, the talented runner has exposed her class well.
On the other hand, Summer Star has run for just one time to date. On February 22, 2012 at Punchestown, the T. M. Walsh-trained bay filly notched up fourth position against 7 competitors.
In this situation, success is going to be a hard nut to crack for Carrigeen Lonicera. The mare will have to run to her best in order to keep her head high. Good luck to her.
