They Merseyside team booked their place in the final by edging local rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 2-1 last month, while Chelsea got the better of Tottenham Hotspur in the other semi final.
The English International played an important part in his side’s triumph over the Toffees, as he headed home a late winner to help them reach their first FA Cup final since 2006.
Talking about the game against the Blues on the weekend, Carroll mentioned that the Cup final has always carried an immense importance in English football and that it had created a great buzz amongst the fans.
He told the club’s official website, “It’s always been a massive game in football. Getting to the Cup final and just the whole atmosphere – even (in the past) when I’ve been at home, everyone gets ready to watch the Cup final and is very excited about it.”
Carroll, who arrived at Anfield from Newcastle United in January last year, celebrated his first winners’ laurel in February, when the Reds lifted the Carling Cup trophy.
And even though his side have plummeted down to the eighth place in the league table, the English International believed that a win against the Blues will conclude a successful season for his team.
“It would be massive for the club and it would be a good season.” He added.
The striker also praised the performance of the Blues under their interim manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, who guided them into the finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup competitions, and felt that they will be a difficult side to beat.
“It didn’t matter who we got, either Chelsea or Tottenham, it was going to be a tough game. It’s been a great turnaround for them and they’ve been doing well, but so are we – it’ll be a good game.”
Liverpool last won the FA Cup in 2006 when they beat West Ham United on a penalty shoot-out. In total, they have won the competition on seven occasions.
