Liverpool striker, Andy Carroll expressed his gratitude towards manager Kenny Dalglish for sticking by him despite his toilsome current season at Anfield, and felt that he had finally started to deliver.
The 23-year old arrived at the Merseyside club for a club record fee of 35 million pounds in January last year from Newcastle United, but has since failed to justify his price tag. In total, he has made 55 appearances for the Reds in all competitions, and
has only managed to score 11 goals.
However, his recent string of impressive performances over the last couple of weeks has refreshed the talks of the player’s hyped calibre, as he has arguably been the best player for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in their last two games against Chelsea. He lifted the dispirited
Reds in the final of the FA Cup after coming on as substitute in the second half and made a big impact in the game. He also played a key role in his side’s 4-1 win against the Blues in their final home game of the season; a performance hailed by his manager
and the team-mates alike.
While talking to the media, Carroll mentioned that he had never been short of confidence despite coming under enormous pressure for failing to score goals on regular basis, and was grateful to Dalglish for his continued support and encouragement during his
difficult period.
He told the reporters, “Kenny has shown a lot of faith in me. I haven't had the greatest season but he has stuck by me and defended me. He has encouraged me a lot and has a lot of belief in me.”
He also played down the opinion that the Reds remarkable win against Chelsea on Tuesday was only due to his good performance; instead claiming that it was a team work.
He continued, “I'm confident of doing well all the time. It's not just the last two games I have played well in. To be honest, I feel I've done well in other games. But it's not just me, it's the team. Four different players scored against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, and that
shows it is a team effort.”
