Liverpool’s most expensive player to date, Andy Carroll has revealed that he pretended to be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 when he used to play with his friends earlier on.
Caroll, who came to Anfield from Newcastle in January 2011 for a club record fee of 35 million pounds, praised his captain’s role in the team and said that he remains a source of inspiration for people around him.
"You see Stevie playing the way he did against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043, scoring three and driving the team on,” Carroll told.
“It was really inspiring.”
Gerrard scored a hat-trick against Everton at Anfield earlier this month and helped his side to 3-0 victory against their local rivals. In doing so, he also became the first player to score a hat-trick in a Merseyside derby since 1982.
The striker from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 hailed the services of his skipper at Anfield and was impressed with the player’s hunger and determination of winning more trophies for the Reds.
"He's had an amazing career but you still know he's desperate to achieve more. It's the hunger you see every day, the determination to win more games, win medals and trophies.” He added.
However, Carroll himself has had a difficult stay with the Reds so far with the player scoring just 6 goals in his 35 appearances in the current season. Since his move to Anfield, the burly striker has only netted the ball eight times for the Reds.
Although, the player was a huge success at Newcastle, scoring 33 goals in 91 appearances for the Magpies, he hasn’t been able to recreate that success at Anfiel. The highlight of his playing career was in the 2009/2010 season in which he scored 19 goals
for the Toon.
He mentioned that he is really honoured to be a part of the same team as Gerrard and described this feeling as ‘unbelievable.
"I used to watch him when I was younger and pretend to be him on the field with my mates. I'm very lucky to be able to share a dressing room with him now. It's unbelievable." He said.
