Liverpool striker, Andy Carroll is eyeing a return to the Sports Direct Arena following the Reds manager, Brendan Rodgers’ lack of willingness in keeping him at Anfield.
The 23-year old arrived at the Merseyside club in January, 2011 for an estimated 35 million pounds transfer fee. Despite struggling to make an immediate mark at his new home, the English International was seen in scintillating form during the closing stages
of the 2011/12 season, forcing many people into thinking that the striker has finally started to live up to his potential.
However, with the advent of the new manager, Brendan Rodgers at the helm, the player has once again been pushed in the midst of uncertainty. The Northern Irishman’s playing philosophy is apparently out of phase with Carroll’s playing style. Rodgers is fond
of adopting a possession retaining and short passing game, while it is no hidden secret that the latter’s strength lies in playing the ball in the air.
Consequently, the former Swans boss let out his intention of off loading the striker on loan, with some rumours now suggesting that the Reds might even sell him on a permanent deal.
However, Carroll expressed his disappointment on being considered for a move away from Anfield, without even getting a chance to prove himself in front of the new manager, and is now looking forward towards making a return to Newcastle.
One of his friends told the reporters, “From a professional point of view Andy is miffed that he wasn’t given the chance to show what he can do in front of new manager Brendan Rodgers. He was expecting to get at least pre-season to show what he could offer
him.”
He also revealed that Carroll was desperate to build on his impressive recent form, but has now started to carry out talks with his current employer to discuss the subject of his move to the Sports Direct Arena.
“Newcastle are interested – and Andy wants to come home. He’s already told http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 that too.”
Meanwhile, the Magpies legend, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Shearer backed the player to make a switch back to Newcastle, and felt that he will receive a warm reception from the Toon fans.
