I am having a competition to see who can get a carrot to grow most in a set amount of time. Between 4 and 6 weeks. The carrots will be grown indoors, in plastic cups that are about 6 inches tall and have a radius of approximately 3 inches. I need tips on how to get this carrot as big as possible, as quickly as possible. Anything is allowed.

Thanks.

  1. TALK to your carrot daily.

  2. 1. Use soft soil with a high organic content (soil with a high organic content is usually black in color.  Avoid soil with rocks or debris in it.

    2. Give the carrot plenty of potassium fertilizer, some phosphorous and not a lot of nitrogen fertilizer.  Potassium helps roots grow.  Nitrogen makes the leaves grow.  You want the carrot focusing the growing on the roots.

    3. Keep the ground moist but not overly wet.  Overly wet ground suffocates the roots and can cause rot.

    4. If planting the seeds starts on a certain day and you are allowed to have the seeds before then, throw them in a refrigerator for several days.  Then when you plant the seeds, keep the ground a little warm by starting it out over the top of the refrigerator so it is a few degrees above room temp.  The slightly warmer temp will make the seeds germinate faster.
