Question:

Carry on and personal items?

On Saturday I'm flying from JFK airport to JAX airport (I'm flying jetBlue). I need to bring my 360, and I refuse to put in my luggage because of how rough they are with luggage, I want to bring my laptop, too. Can I put my 360 in a Jansport backpack and put it in the overhead thing, and use my laptop bag as my person item? Also, if my carry on item that goes in the overhead is too big and they have to end up checking it, do I have to pay the price for an extra checked bag?

  1. I believe you can carry both in a carry on bag. Or you could carry two seperate carry ons.

By law, you must remove the laptop from the bag and place it in an x-ray bin.  I am not familiar with the 360.  I have traveled with a laptop and a professional digital camera without delaying incidents.  Just make sure one of your bags will fit into the overhead.  The other must fit under your seat or the seat in front of you.

Good luck and have a great trip.

  2. I'm pretty sure they only allow one piece of personal luggage. I recommend getting one of those memory foam laptop holders, usually they have them at PC World, and putting your laptop into your jansport backpack with the 360. Most airlines allow 2 checked bags.

I hope that helps! Have fun!

  3. Plan A (putting the 360 in your Jansport backpack) sounds fine to me.

And to answer your second question, if you do have to check an extra bag and you booked your flight ON or AFTER May 1, then yes, you will have to pay the $20 fee for an extra bag. However, if you booked your flight before May 1, you won't have to pay that fee.

I wish you the best of luck, and have a good flight.

  4. My brother brought his 360 down here to Texas from Kansas. He put it in his suitcase and it survived just fine. You just have to pack things right.

Try looking at your airline's website, or you could always call and ask.

  5. There are rolling suitcases, that many business travelers carry on the airplane, that I believe would fit both your 360 and your laptop into.  If you don't own one, maybe you could borrow one .

My  husband goes on overnight business trips, and he does not want to deal with baggage claims, and that is what he does.

When we travel as a family, I always bring my laptop, regular camera and video camera, and I put them all into one carry on. Then, if I have much else, I bring a large purse too.

    Best of luck.

  6. the rule is that you have to get the carry on in the overhead thing.

ANd yes , you  will have to pay the prices for an extra checked bag.

  7. You are allowed to have one carry-on bag, and one personal item such as a laptop bag or backpack (it doesn't matter if you are male or female lol!)  If you have a purse, put it in your backpack...then you can take it out later.

  8. No you are allowed 1 carry on item. If you put the X - Box in the bag which i don't reccomend then you can not carry on a laptop because your backpack is your carry on. You don't have to pay extra unless it exceeds 50 pounds

  9. Pack your suitcase and put your 360 in the middle, so it's cushioned.  Women are allowed two carry ons--a purse and an actual carry own, but I wouldn't try to push it and bring both electronics in carry ons.  Besides, if you travel with that many electrical devices, you are almost guaranteed to get stopped for an extra security check, and you don't need that.
