Question:

Carry-on confusion!?

I'm flying next week, and I've read the TSA's 3-1-1 rule about packing liquids and gels. The problem is I have four items that I want to have with me on the flight, and they're all under 3 oz. Can I place all of them in one bag, or would that cause trouble?

The items altogether aren't close to 3 oz total! It's just my mascara (.13), lipgloss (.38), concealer (.21), and some GermX (1.5oz)

This will be my first time flying out of the country (USA to Italy), and I'll be flying solo on the return trip.

I'd appreciate any help-as I'm stressed out already! (lol)

Thanks to all who answer!

  1. you are allowed to take as many liquids as can fit into a sandwich ziplock bag. Thats what they made me do last time I went on a plane!

  2. I have been flying back and forth from the USA to Pakistan for the past year and I can personally say they don't go and actually calculate how many liquids you have. As long as you have it in a clear Ziploc bag, you should be fine. Even though most people put their things in the sandwich bags, I use the quart sized one.

  3. i do recommend a piece of tape on then cap so it won't leak/spill and put them in a (clear) plastic baggie.I had an incident with shampoo once, my luggage smelled like head and shoulder shampoo.Good luck!!!!

  4. Nope, thats ok to  bring as many 3oz liquids as you can fit in a bag.  Make sure the bag is clear though!  Have fun!

  5. i am not going to promise anything but i am 99.9% sure that you have to have it ALL in a quart size bag. my dad goes out of the country all of the time and he told my that so i think that he would know unless things change which it seems they do all the time .

  6. my mom is a flightattendant and it is said that you can have as much of it as you want as long as each individual item is less than 3 oz. which yours are, so you will be just fine.  there is no rule you are breaking.

    have fun on your trip

  7. You can have them all in one bag, it's no problem as long as you're not over your ounces.  You may have the stuff opened and  checked out and whatnot when you go through security (or you may not, I've seen some TSA that take it serious as heck and some that don't seem to care at all), so just be prepared that any liquid you have might be tested or whatever by some stranger.  it's happened to me more than once.  Have fun in Italy.

  8. these things should not cause a problem as long as they are all packed together into a ziplock baggie and the containers aren't bigger than 3 oz (when new).

  9. i fly all the time in and out of the country and as long as everything fits in one normal size clear ziplock bag ur in the clear... hope that helps you

  10. you can carry them on, just keep them in a baggie where you can get to them easily.. they might ask you to put your liquids separate when they put your stuff through the x-ray machine.. they usually ask you to put them in one of their baggies before you get in line for the metal detector.. but you have nothing to worry about with that stuff, I've taken larger amounts of weirder stuff on board without any problems :)
