ok so i'll be moving to chandler arizona next week. i'll be moving in with my aunt and uncle. [i just graduated high school and am moving from maine] ok so i know you can bring a small carry on bag but could you also bring on another carry on bag along with that? I wanted to know that way I would be able to pack more things such as clothes and what not since all that stuff won't fit in my luggage since I have too much stuff. Also is the second carry on free? I hope I worded this correctly. thanks xD

  1. I work for a major airline and get this question all the time.  My best suggestion is to check with your airline directly.  Baggage restrictions are changing on an almost daily basis.  Currently most major airlines allow you to carry on a small bag, up to 45 total inches, height + width+length and up to 40 pounds...plus a free personal item, like a purse, laptop bag, or small back pack.  You may want to consider sending things that you will not use right away by US postal service Parcel post.  It takes a while but can be pretty inexpensive. Excess baggage fees, and overweight fees can be over $100.  Good luck with the move and hope this helps!

  2. You are allowed one carry on and one personal item.  So you could take a bigger carry on bag full of stuff.  Then you could also take a larger tote bag or something that looks like a purse and put more stuff in there and call it your personal item.

    Hope this helps!
