I'm flying out of country for a few days and wondered exactly how they run carry-ons through inspection. I'm flying continental if that makes any difference. I just need to know if my cigarettes are gonna be a problem. Thank you in advance

  1. it goes thru a type of scanner. and to be safe i would just put them in checked on luggage

  2. It does not  vary by airline at all.  You put your bag on the belt, after you have removed your liquids and laptops if you bought one, and put those items in a separate container, then you walk through the metal detector and pick it up at the other end.

  3. probably. maybe not.

    depends on the airline.
