  1. why not i dont no

  2. I haven't actually checked but I'm guessing that virgin food grade oil is more expensive than diesel fuel.  It is possible to use old oil from fryers and the like but that isn't viable for the masses as there just isn't enough of it.  It isn't any secret at any rate that this will work.

  3. It works but I still think alternate fuel should be made out of raisins (it could work) The co.s will know that their product is wanted and they will want a profit increase! It is an outrage that they want to take advantage of our alternative fuel!

  4. I run an old Citroen ZX 1.9D on used veg oil and it works fine, but I wouldn't run my wife's new C3 1.4HDi on veg oil because it would invalidate the warranty and I don't think it would cope well as it is a high pressure engine.

I have noticed that the price of cooking oil is increasing quite significantly.  When I first started to run my ZX on oil, early last year, rapeseed oil was about 72p (uk) per litre, now it's up to about 88p.  Also I have seen many people add veg oil to their diesel tanks; most people seem to suppliment diesel fuel with veg oil on a 50/50 or 75/25 mix.

Veg oil as diesel fuel is classed as a "biofuel" and is NOT subject to fuel duty provided you use less than 2,500 litres per year.

  5. of course they would the price is already going up now

  6. I'm not 100% sure of this but i have been told that if you use veg oil for fuel you are still liable to pay  fuel tax on it to the gov and in the UK that is sky high!

  7. The one major flaw is the car manufactures will not validate  warranties when cars are running on veg oil , a problem that will soon occur here in Ireland when they will be introducing a % of veg oil / allternate fuel at source

  8. Vegetable oils become solid at temperatures well above freezing. Diesel oil is liquid below - 40. Unless you live in the tropics you will need a tank heater for your biodiesel car.

  9. Yes it is possible, you need to modify the vehicle.

Untill only the tail end of last year, you had to be registered, and declare the Tax, but for your own use, this has been excempted.

Fuel at the pumps will by law soon have to have a percentage (5%) to be called "bio".

Yes the global price of vegetable oil and related feedstocks for ethanol will rise.

This will mean higher grain costs, which means higher meat, dairy and egg costs.

The result is all prices will rise - no more cheap food people.

  10. OH YES,   You can bet your Boots on  Fuel Prices Rising Dramatically when any Countries Government Get their Grubby Paws into  wanting their share of  Taxes for any Alternative fuels. No matter Who develops  it,  Sorry  folk's,  Just had to get my  2 cents worth in on this matter.

  11. Bio-diesel cars make a LOT more sense than ethanol.

    More efficient, less polluting...

There are new diesel technologies in the works that will truly make the diesel engine the power plant of the future.

Batteries are improving also so I prefer a switch to electric cars but they will require the immediate building of nuclear power plants and infrastructure improvements to distribute the power.

Bio-diesel should be limited to large vehicles and trucks.

  12. i know someone who has ben running his car on this for years

  13. The price of corn worldwide is increasing, due to biodiesel use.

So the "green car" is starving poor people.  There's always a price to pay . . .

  14. It happened once before. The diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil. Farmers could grow their own fuel, the magically the price of peanut oil went up and the price of petro went down to the point that Mr. diesel was ruined.

Don't quote me, but it happened something like that.

  15. The first diesel engine was designed by Rudolph Diesel in the early 1900's  and it was powered with peanut oil.

They are already increasing the price of vegetable oils, so that when everyone wakes up to the reality, vegetable oils will probably be more expensive,

The big companies have known this for years.

  16. go on this website it tells you about all the green ways that the vegetable oil can be used, including car fuel.

you will be feeding of this in a week coming

  17. Some of the early mechanical Diesel engines like the bullet proof Peugeot/Citroen 1.8 and 1.9 Diesels will run quite happily on a mixture of Diesel and veg.oil but i wouldn`t try it in some of the modern electronically controlled engines and like another person mentioned you might as well put the vehicle warranty sheet through the shredder. You have to inform Customs and Excise of the amount of veg.oil you put in the tank and pay the tax on it or the whole thing is illegal. You might as well put red Diesel in it , do not pass go and go straight to jail!

  18. It's ALREADY way more expensive than diesel. I just paid $4.00 for about 2 quarts of salad oil. Biodiesel is all about reusing WASTE oil.
