Cars that are good on fuel?

I have saved 7000 au dollars and don't want to spend any more. I need a car good on fuel as my current car is terrible, I only get 300km to a 60lt tank. I want a car no smaller then 1.8lts. I want it to be atleast 450km to a 45 lt tank as I know its possible. Any aussie cars that will do this? Auto and can be an older model car... just sooo long as its good on fuel!!! ideas?!?!

- a fuel efficient car - 10 km. per liter.

- engine of medium size.

- cheap.

- old model

You can have everything you want, but not in a single car.

KIA and Hyundai have small cars around that price.  You might have to buy one used to be under $7000 aus  I think they are around 9000 new.
