Carseats with front bars??

Question

we just got our daughter the carseat with the padded bar in front and people are telling me it -was a bad idea?! but they dont have a reason whats the reason or are they just being dumb :/

VERY bad idea. It's only a 3 pt harness (3 places where the harness touches your child and the back of the seat. The bar is very unsafe--in the event of an accident, your child can suffer severe brain damage if their head snaps forward and hits that bar. Plus, if that bar is jarred from the side in a crash, your child can become trapped in the seat and bleed to death because they can't get him/her out. Additionally, if the buckle below comes undone, your child is held in the seat only by the straps around his/her chest and neck--your child would be decapitated.There is only one company left that makes that seat (Evenflo) and it's by far the worst seat on the market. Return it and get a 5 pt harness- safety is not something you want to mess around with. If you're short on cash, go for a Graco seat. For a low end budget, those seats are great. If you are willing to spend more for your child's safety, go with a TruFit Compass, Britax Marathon, or Sunshine Kids Radian seat. They will all hold a child to at least 65, the Radian to 80 lbs in a 5 pt harness.

We have one of these too. We like them better than car seats without the bar. A lot of people say they are bad but if they were then I'm sure they wouldn't sell them still. We bought ours online because Babies R Us was out at the store.

And by the way people ours is a 5 point harness not a 3 point.

the reason why is because if you get into a wreck  the baby could possibly be flung into that bar and seriously injured.. I've seen alot of people use them. but I myself never did I didnt think that  they were that safe  because of the bar and honestly they were just more of a pain to get my kid into one of those than  the ones without the bar..

Britax is the best, why not just get that?  It's totally worth every penny!!
