Carson Brindle pockets Men’s 100m freestyle title: Day two – USA Swimming Sectionals, Mount Hood
Carson Brindle of Multnomah Athletic Club pocketed the gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle meet on the second day of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, taking place in Mount Hood, Oregon.
Brindle qualified as the third fastest swimmer into the finals, but his dominating swim in the final rounds enabled him to pocket the gold medal of the freestyle event. The16-year-old Brindle captured the title of the event in an inspiring time of 52.78
seconds. He was 0.07 seconds behind his closest competitor, Nicole Koerner of RallySport Aquatic,
who settled on the podium for the silver medal, by clocking a time of 52.85 seconds.
Similarly, the 21-year-old Koerner remained only 0.04 seconds away from his following swimmer, Andrew Heymann of Lake Oswego Swim. Heymann, who qualified into the finals as the top fastest swimmer, failed to overwhelm the efforts of his preceding swimmers
and claimed bronze medal of the event. He won the bronze medal in a third fastest swim time of 52.89 seconds.
Coleto Worsley of DU Hilltoppers-C was the fourth best swimmer of the two-lap race, as he stayed only 0.02 seconds behind the bronze medallist and concluded his swim in 52.91 seconds. Moments later, Clark P Smith of Denver Swim Academy occupied the fifth
fastest spot of the event, as he was only 0.02 seconds slower than the fourth finisher and reported in a time of 52.93 seconds.
Ben P Lovell of Spokane Area Swimming was the sixth position holder of the 100m event, as he produced a time of 53.04 seconds. He was followed by Patri Cardillo of Colorado Springs, who earned the seventh fastest spot of the race, by producing a time of
53.08 seconds. Cole W Puchi of Tucson Ford Deal secured the eighth position in the respective meet, after he touched the finishing wall in a time of 53.17 seconds.
In addition, the arena applauded for the energetic swims of all participants, while the winners received medals and accolades for their outstanding efforts after the completion of the session.
