Carsten Jancker: It will be difficult for Bayern Munich to win the Champions League
The former Bayern Munich striker, Carsten Jancker, insists that the Reds would find it difficult to win the Champions League this season. He believes that Bayern might win the Bundesliga but Champions League triumph would take some getting from the Bavarian
giants.
Jancker showered praise on Bayern’s current form and rated them favourites to win the Bundesliga this term. He didn’t consider his former team as favourites to lift the Champions League, however.
The former striker is of the opinion that Bayern need to overcome the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid, which is in itself a huge ask.
Having previously won the Champions League in 2001 with Bayern, Jancker wished to see his former team repeating the same feat this year. He believes that the Reds would have to be on their toes throughout the European competition in order to stand any chance
of grabbing the title.
Carsten told that Bayern could be crowned champions only if they are able to reach the final of the competition, as they would be hosting it in front of a jam packed Allianz-Arena.

While talking to Goal.com, the 37-year-old further enthused:
“Until now, FC Bayern have had a very good season. In the end, however, only titles matter. They will probably win the Bundesliga. In the Champions League, you always need luck.”
The player also added that Bayern can’t win the competition without any luck and Jupp Heynckes’ men should try avoiding the Catalan giants for as long as possible.
He remembered the 1999 Champions League final, which the Bavarians lost to Manchester United. Jancker instated that the Reds were unlucky to miss out in that game as his famous bicycle kick struck the woodwork, denying Bayern a deserved win.
He concluded remarks by saying, “Well, in that game we were without luck. But then we also won two league titles with the best of luck. Now no longer. But it of course took some time for me to get that scene out of my head. I went through it over and over
again, mainly because the defeat was so bitter.”
