Former Bayern Munich striker Carsten Jancker has stated that he is confident that Germany will have a successful campaign in the European Championships next year. The former player insisted that although the Germans have been drawn
into one of the toughest groups, they will still progress to the next round if they continue to play like they have been off-late.

Jancker claimed that it is a very exciting group for Germany and they will be favourites to top as their current form has been far better than the form of their other three counterparts. He insisted that the team will definitely
progress to the next round and other teams like Holland and Portugal will fight for the runner-up place.
“It's of course an interesting group. I think that the Netherlands will be the toughest opponent in the group. If [Germany] can hold their current form, then they have good chances to win the group. We'll definitely survive the
group stages,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former German international played down the chances of Portugal qualifying for the next round and stated that Holland will definitely be the favourites to end up second. However, he insisted that no team in the competition
can be understated and the team cannot afford to be complacent as all other teams have world class names in their squad. He added that the Germans will have a tough journey but have a great chance of winning the competition.
“The Netherlands are in my eyes favourite for second place. Of course they're the hardest nut for Germany. All teams have their qualities. You aren't allowed to under-rate anyone who qualified for the final tournament,” he concluded.
