Carter Christensen wins Men’s 50m freestyle gold – YMCA National Championship
Carter Christensen of Somerset Valley NJ won gold medal of the Men’s 50m freestyle on fifth day of the 2012 YMCA National Long Course Championship at Georgia Institute of Technology Aquatics Center on Friday, July 27.
Christensen demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the shortest freestyle discipline and won the hearts of crowd by winning gold medal of the discipline.
The 18-year-old Christensen remained marginally ahead of his opponents in the single lap race and touched the finishing wall for gold medal with the timing of 25.60 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Christian Berardo of Hunterdon-NJ, who remained 0.07 seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 25.67 seconds.
Berardo was trailed by Nick Insley of Central Delaware, who remained 0.07 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by posting a time of 25.74 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Richard Chen of Blue Ash-OH, who remained 0.22 seconds behind and produced a time of 25.96 seconds.
Similarly, Chen was chased by Danny Kracke of West Monmouth-NJ, who was just an inch slower from Chen over the finishing end and secured fifth position with the timing of 26.03 seconds.
Following that, Elise Lankiewicz of Brandywine-De dominated the playoff of equivalent event in Women’s category. The 17-year-old Lankiewicz remained a half body length ahead of her closest challenger and touched the wall with the timing of 27.33 seconds
for gold medal.
Her title-claiming effort was followed by Julieyanna Parker of Somerset Valley NJ, who stayed 0.51 seconds apart and ended second with the timing of 27.84 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Madison Hynoski of Hunterdon-NJ, who remained full body length apart and secured bronze medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 28.70 seconds.
Hynoski was followed by Tatiana Prendella of Somerset Hills-NJ, who settled on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting an effort of 28.87 seconds.
In addition, Christensen and Lankiewicz were delighted with their gold securing efforts in the shortest freestyle discipline on final night of the competition.
