  1. It sounds like it could be infected... I would clean it twice a day and keep turning it. Cartilage piercings take about a year to heal completely.

^^ EDIT: You are never supposed to use rubbing alcohol, peroxide or anything like that on piercings, they are used for healing and closing wounds, you don't want that for piercings.

  2. I have had the same thing... it happens with piercings... It is probably your earing. Try getting a earing that is for sensitive ears. Clean your hole every night with either rubbing alcohol or another ear cleaning solution. Also dont forget to clean the earing! It'll probably take a few weeks to be completely normal again. It always goes away.

  3. Jenna, I strongly suggest that you pop off and see your local GP to make sure that the ear is not infected. In my former life as a lawyer I once had a case where my client had got a cartilage piercing in her ear. Cartilage is tricky and more prone to infection. My client's ear got infected and within the space of only a few days, it shivelled up to look like a cabbage. This condition ended up being permanent and so she came to me and we sued the jewellry shop that did the piercing.

We won but my client was still left with a deformed ear that affected her appearance and her self esteem.

I know from this case that it is very important to ensure that you keep your hands away from the wound (to avoid contamination) and that you apply the appropriate solution to cleanse and sterilize the affected area and in accordance with a medical practitioner's recommendation.

Jenna, caution is best approach so pop off to the doctor and let him or her check to see if it's all normal. Either way, the doctor will best be able to recommend the right application to treat and/or guard against infection.

If you do have an infection, the infection can advance very rapidly and be excruciatingly painful.

So, don't delay - head off to the doctor today!

  4. I agree with the first answer.
