The Arab press recently published more cartoons condemning terrorism.(1) These cartoons presented terrorism as an indiscriminately destructive force striking everything in its path, and mocked the terrorists for blindly pursuing the promise of the virgins of Paradise. The cartoons also expressed criticism of extremists who entice the youth, indoctrinating them to embrace extremist ideas.

Not really answering te cartoon question. But the US and Europe seem dead set against progressisive Islamic countries. Momahar Gadaffi did much to liberate women there and made much freedom. Iran was once making progress under Shah Palavai. The US  turned its back on him and helped create a fundamentalist Islamic nation. Saddam Hussein was progressive in Iraq and women had gained many rights. That progress  erased in the last 6 years.  From the activity, I think the US is very much responsible for pushing Islamic countries back into the 5th Century and  eliminating  freedom. When we say we promote Democracy in those countries, we, in reality promote tribal and factional warfare. And free Muslim women to have career  roles rather than just have and rear children would advance their technologies and living standards.  The US and Europe need and will buy their oil, but they want division and unrest in the Middle East.  When the US says it is bringing Democracy, freedom and technology to your country, fear the worst. The record is like Iraq. We will bring utility outages, laqck of basic needs, civil unrest, famine, disease, huge debt and strip your country of everything of value. All for the glory of some politicians and our great industrial military complex. The US has been greatly emboldened by the collapse of the Soviet Union. Like the bully on the block, there is no one capable of a challange. We have become the Evil Empire the USSR once was.

I enjoyed viewing the cartoons.  Thanks for sharing them.  I am not familiar with any of the papers that they are published in so I wonder how the circulation was.

It is so important that we are reminded that many are not extremists.  There are plenty of people working towards equality.

Thoughts. Hillary Clinton on ABC TV The View this week. Making grand gestures that "It is time that the World Adjusted to Women" direct quotes...  When asked how will she deal with countries like this who have no respect for the opposite s*x. "I have been to 82 countries and never encountered a problem" She referred specifically to Saudi Arabia where women live subservient lives. The photo op of the day or intent? Not sure.

Fear that if in office a woman may defeat any and all progress in negotiations & international treaties, putting us equal to Putin's efforts to regain Cold War status. Iran's President will eat US for breakfast.  

note: Japan & Iran /Ambassador meets with i'maddinajacket  today. .. Googled the Russian Embassy.org & Eurasia Daily Monitor... Also check out the Trans Caspian Oil Pipeline for more details. If you saw Bush would not even go there over the Caspian Sea. This pipeline into the Black Sea goes against Russia & Iran's plans for all the resources in there.

As a muslim myself who is tired of terrorism and its justification my by the mean the misguided and the foolish I welcome this.

There is nowhere near enough of it  in circulation nor is there enough awareness  of it in the West.

Western media does not  seem to acknowledge this type of thinking or this type of sentiment among muslims although IT IS FAR FROM RARE.

what is far more common is for them to focus on every fanatic they can find and make them appear to be the norm.

This is problematic for any number of reasons  not the least of which is the way that public opinion influences foreign policy(at least it does in most administrations).

Mash-Allah, Alhamdulillah, subhanAllah and takbir are my responses to the cartoons.
