Casey Crosby hoping to cement his place on Detroit Tigers’ roster – MLB Update
Casey Crosby is an extremely effective and dynamic pitcher. Since making his debut with Detroit Tigers, he has shown glimpses of his talent. The guy was lucky enough to be drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft and he has not
disappointed his manager since then.
According to Crosby’s coaches, he is a very hard working pitcher. He knows his strengths and weakness and he is one of players who are always looking to bring improvement in their game play.
Crosby was added to Tigers’ 40-man roster in November last year and despite suffering elbow injury; he produced some masterful performances for the Tigers’ Triple A affiliate Toledo Mud Hens.
With Tigers’ pitching rotations struggling to achieve the desired goals, Crosby will have an excellent opportunity to cement his place on the big league rosters. Mud Hens’ manager Phil Nevin is very excited to see the starter in Tigers’ colours for the first
time this season. Crosby was called up by the Tigers after Doug Fister had to be put on the disabled list due to shoulder injury.
"We're going to move your start back," Nevin, the Toledo Mud Hens manager, told Crosby. "It's just that the New York Yankees are a little better team. You're going to start (today) against the Yankees in Detroit."
"I think I blacked out after he told me that," Crosby said during a Thursday phone conversation. "It was a little hard to concentrate after that. I made phone calls, but I don't remember them very well."

”If he's throwing strikes with his stuff, he's going to get outs," Nevin said Thursday. "His last three starts have absolutely been outstanding."
According to some reliable sources, Fister may be out for the entire season to recover from his injury and Crosby will get his chance to play the majors over an extended period.
Tigers’ call was a surprise for Crosby who is still quite inexperienced at MLB level. Tigers’ fans, Manager Jim Leyland and General Manager Dave Dombrowski will be eager to see him in action and it will be interesting to see if he can live up to the expectations.
