Casey Martin disappoints with his bad game and a bad shirt, the US Open brightens up!
Casey Martin has had a very bad start to the US Open with a 4-over par 74 as his final score.
Martin came into the game wearing the brightest green shirt that has ever been seen on a golf course. It was so green that the course grass seemed a little faint in comparison with the shirt.
The US Open has been tough for numerous other names like the world number one Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood. Surprisingly, they are the top-3 players of the world in the global ranking.
Martin seemed frustrated. His age is now taking a toll on him and it is visible. “I'm not totally used to walking up these hills, but it feels good,” said Martin, while roaming around the course.
His father also made a humorous remark on Martin’s extra green shirt and commented on it as “Visible”.
The brightness that his green shirt displayed was never seen in his play. He admitted that he tried to overcome the pressure on his shoulders but failed to do so.
“I tried to realize that there's really not much pressure on me, but it didn't work,” said the troubled golfer.
The US Open saw Donald messing things up in his starting round. He failed to get a single birdie on the score board and settled for a very disappointing score at the end.
Similarly, the world number 2 McIlroy was noticed blaming the course for his bad play and ignored the fact that the course had nothing to do with his poor form.
Tiger Woods is the player who stood out tall and bold among the rest. He was the only golfer who judged the course prior to his strategy. He realized that the course would help the ball run around.
He worked on his stroke play according to the conditions and it paid off. Woods is just 3 points behind the leader Michael Thompson and is looking dangerous.
Martin has to get a grip on his game and his dressing as the brightness that came out of his shirt should be visible in his game as well. Round 2 will determine who stood out with the game and who stood out with just a flashy shirt.
