Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso aim to continue Repsol Honda dominance in Catalunya – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda riders Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso have aimed to continue dominance of their team, Repsol Honda at the upcoming Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on June 5, 2011.
Their third teammate Dani Pedrosa will not race on his home ground.
Honda Racing Corporation has been a great performer at the Catalan venue. In the past, Honda have always dominated and either one of their riders managed a podium finish. The only time they could not manage to do so was in the 2009 season. So far, they have
bagged 31 podiums at the Catalunya circuit.
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner said, “After such a great weekend in Le Mans I'm really looking forward to going to Barcelona, it's one of the first Grand Prix tracks I rode on and I've always enjoyed it. It's a very flowing track and the Spanish crowd are
amazing.”
In the previous seasons, Dani Pedrosa has proved that Honda are a stunning performer at the Catalan circuit. However, the team is struggling to create a competitive setup this time and score points in the second Spanish GP.
Dani Pedrosa will be resting at home due to his recent incident at Le Mans, which caused him a fracture on his right collarbone. After his crash with fellow Honda RCV rider Marco Simoncelli, he has undergone a surgery to fix the fracture with titanium plates.
His comeback was dependent on the recovery of his injury. Pedrosa is not fit for the race due to which he will miss his second home grand prix of the 2011 season.
Winner of the last grand prix at Le Mans, Casey Stoner and his teammate Andrea Dovizioso have landed in Barcelona to start the racing weekend. At the Catalunya circuit, Pedrosa has three victories and seven podium finishes to his name while his teammate
has one win and managed to land on the podium four times. Surprisingly, none of those victories came in the MotoGP.
The Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso said, “I’m happy heading to the Catalunya Grand Prix after my second position at Le Mans. This is one of my favourite circuits, it suits my riding style and it’s a good track also for the Honda RC212V.”
