Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso enthusiastic for Silverstone Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda riders Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso are all excited about the upcoming AirAsia British Grand Prix set to take place on June 12, 2011.
However, their third teammate, Dani Pedrosa will miss out on the event in order to recover properly from the injury. Pedrosa earlier missed the Catalunya GP as well, hampering his championship bid.
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Hiroshima Aoyama has turned down the offer to ride as a substitute for Pedrosa and now the Repsol Honda team will run only two riders.
Repsol Honda rider, Casey Stoner said, “After a great last few races we're looking forward to going to Silverstone, last year wasn't so good for us after being unlucky off the start which prevented us from having a stronger race.”
Stoner feels that the way Honda are performing in the ongoing season, the results will be positive. He said they need to keep concentrating on their performance as well as keep an eye on fellow rivals such as Jorge Lorenzo, who won the 2010 British GP and
knows the track conditions really well.
The Australian rider likes to race at the British venue and also expressed his wishes for teammate Dani Pedrosa that he recovers well.
The Aussie’s teammate Andrea Dovizioso who finished fourth at the Catalan GP is looking forward to score a podium finish at Silverstone. At Le Mans, the Italian rider finished at second place but in Catalunya, he improved his race pace.
Repsol Honda rider, Andrea Dovizioso said, “I like Silverstone, it’s a good track for us and now that it has been resurfaced in the parts where there were more bumps it should be even better. The layout is beautiful and we go there to fight for the podium.
In terms of race pace, in Catalunya we made a step forward compared to Le Mans, where we finished second.”
After five rounds, Stoner has improved his position on the championship points table. Presently, he stands at second place just seven points short form the leader Jorge Lorenzo. Andrea Dovizioso has also moved up to third place in the standings. Both teammates
are focused to get on the podium at Silverstone. Let’s see how they fare this weekend.
