Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso gear up for Dutch TT Assen Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda riders’ duo Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso is gearing up for the seventh MotoGP event, the Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix which is due to be held this Saturday in Netherlands.
The race weekend will start on Thursday with its free practice sessions, last FP and qualifier on Friday and the race on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
Casey Stoner will start his practice on Thursday along with other contenders. He is leading the MotoGP world championship at the moment with an 18-point lead from Yamaha Factory rival Jorge Lorenzo. The Aussie rider has four wins and one ‘did not finish’
status after six rounds of the 2011 season.
He leads the premier class into the seventh round at Netherlands. Stoner will be seen fighting for another victory in the season. He has been visiting podium at Assen every season since 2007.
Repsol Honda rider, Casey Stoner said, “It was a tough race in Silverstone and to come away with three wins in a row and also the Championship lead is awesome, so it's been nice to have a break after such a good time! I'm really looking forward to going
to Assen, it's a nice track, the first section is a little slow and doesn't do too much for me, but the last part is a lot of fun.”
Stoner believes that his factory Honda RCV will perform well at the venue as it has done in the rest of the season. The RCV has developed an unmatchable pace with its new clutch system. At the moment, the team is focused to collect another win at Netherlands.
The team will work to enhance the race setup for optimum performance at the Dutch circuit.
Stoner’s teammate Andrea Dovizioso is ranked third at the championship points table.
Repsol Honda rider, Andrea Dovizioso said, “After the podium finish at Silverstone, I look forward to race in Assen. I really like the old track, now with the several modifications it has lost its unique identity a bit.”
The Italian and his team are in good from and will resume action on a strong note. Let’s see how they fare in Assen this weekend.
