Question:

Casey Stoner at Misano?

Does anyone know what compound tyres Casey was using today and were they similar to Vale? What happened to him today and will this affect him mentally for the closing races? I know his wrist is painful, but he seemed to be having a heated discussion with the Bridgestone engineer when he returned to the pits.

Am really pleased that Vale is closer to being crowned WC again :)

  1. i think he was on medium compound but I'm just guessing cause i heard the commentators saying he should try hards, he tried to pull out an early lead just like the last race but pushed to hard to get away from rossi. the same thing happened with sete a few years back when he was fighting rossi in every race. they all no they have to fight hard for an early lead because rossi will more than likely win if its a close fought race. casey knows he has the better bike but rossi isn't 7 times world champion for nothing.

  2. Hey Cheryl - Wasn't that just the dogs grollocks in front of his home fans ?? - enough to make even me CRY !

I agree with the rest of the bunch that both Casey and

Rossi were using the same tyre compound -

I also agree with Mr Proc that, on this occasion, there was no pressure on Casey during THIS race !

I do still however believe, that Casey IS under (general) pressure - that will have now escalated for the next race -

As for the fracture in his hand - I also believe this was being used as an excuse IN CASE he didn't win !!

I also think that in terms of rider error - the only error made by Casey was either purely 'an on the limit' one

or that maybe he just got a bit too comfortable ??

Either way - it puts the MAIN man in a better position to bring home that big fat juicy number 8 we've all been

    waiting for !!!

  3. Casey couldn't hack it and crashed, it's as simple as that. Have you noticed if things do not go his way he will blame everyone but himself. It's never him. It's always the track, the conditions, the other riders or the bike.

  4. AFAIK Stoner and Rossi were using the same compounds.

Oooeeerrr we've been having a heated discussion in our house as to what happened with Casey :-)

My OH is sticking to the bad wrist theory (even though Casey told Randy M in an interview that he felt it was doing okay)

Me...  I'm going with rider error, together with a theory of incomplete set-up, after all, during the press conference yesterday he did say he had a lot of work to do with the set up during qualifing and only had time to fit in two qualifiers compared to his normal three.

Suppose we'll never really know as Ducatti are well known for keeping these things under their hats and blagging the press !!

Of course this is bound to affect him mentally, gosh he's spent most of the last three races in the gravel lol

Oh yeah, I watched the 125cc and 250cc races too :-D

Looked like a rollercoaster with all the bumps and wobbles lol

Oh, and "woohoo, way to go Bradley Smith :-D "

  5. Hi Cheryl H, Casey was using the same Hard tyres he has been using all weekend. he also was running the same 1:34 pace he was all weekend. without trying to defend him to much I think it was one of those racing accidents. I dont think he was under pressure from Rossi or anyone else for that matter. I certainly dont think he would make the same mistake as last time. I hope this does not break his confidence either. I expect that a 3 win lead with 5 races left is enough to give Vale a more than realistic grip on the title. which is great for the sport. if yamaha hadnt sorted the bike out I guess Vale would have gone at the end of this season.

On another note, Randy was saying Pedrosa wil be on Bridgestones at Indy ? One step nearer to a control tyre ? I hope not.  Bridgestone were adament they wanted competition. I hope they stick to their guns.

  6. I honestly cannot see any of the top men continually make rider errors,he was in front by a fair margin,he is an Aussie,so SHOULD cope with the heat, nothing (as yet)come out of the garage regarding bike malfunctioning, has won from the front unde pressure.I blame the authorities a bit for letting him race with a physical handicap.Or sponsorship demands. That about covers it for me.

  7. Good afternoon to you, young lady !

What a days racing !!! Did you see the 125 race and the 250's was more like a boxing match !!!

    A for tyres, both on Spec B, Hard F & Hard R.

They had the excact same compounds.

I dont think that Vale " pushed " Casey in to that crash, I just think it was rider error and Casey weak wrist. He did say that the front had no feeling in it. It does seem a little strange when you think it was the right hand side and its a right handed track.

Rossi rode a great race and said that Casey had great pace, so if he could of caught him .......... I guess we will never know now.

2008 World Champion : He has one hand on the title now.

I cant wait for Indy. I just hope the track is safe.

  8. He was using hard Michigan's (?) and braked at the wrong second. Silly boy. I had a £5 on him to win.
