Casey Stoner considers taking part in V8 Supercar Series after MotoGP retirement – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda Team rider Casey Stoner has said that he is considering to take part in V8 Supercar Series after his retirement from MotoGP.
Stoner has made an announcement in a press conference at Le Mans that he will take retirement from the sport at the end of 2012 MotoGP season.
The two-time world champion expressed that he has lost his interest in the game as there have been some dramatic changes in MotoGP over the period of time.
He added that he will think about participating in V8 Supercars after this year. Over and above, the defending champion said that he loves bikes and he wants to keep that passion alive in him.
“It is something I am definitely interested to do in the future, but whether I will be fast enough or not is another thing,” said Stoner. “That will be not in the near future, the immediate future. There are many things that I would like to do with my life,
and to be honest I don't want to keep racing bikes to the point where I lose completely my passion.”
He added, “I have tested the V8 car, and that is something we have been trying to do for the last two or three years, to be honest, and finally it happened.”
However, he said that the possibility to race in the Supercar series in future has nothing to do with his recent decision of leaving MotoGP after this season while he said that he has been planning to do it from the last couple of years.
The Australian rider won his first world championship title with Ducati team in 2007, after claiming victories in 10 races. Besides, just after three years, he took his second title in his first season with Honda in 2011.
Furthermore, he is presently leading the riders’ championship and is one point ahead of Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing. He has claimed victories in the last two races held at Jerez Circuit in Spain and Estoril Circuit in Portugal. Moreover, he secured
an impressive third podium finish in the season opener at Losail Circuit in Qatar.
