Casey Stoner fined after punching Randy de Puniet - MotoGP
The Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner has been fined 5000-euros by the MotoGP race directors present at the Le Mans circuit after his physical act against Randy de Puniet, when he punched him on the left shoulder.
De Puniet was trying to get out of the way of the Aussie but it was misjudged by the Pramac rider and obstructed the line of Stoner and 'adjusting his brake lever' during the lap run, heading towards Garage Vert. The contact between the two riders was nominal,
but nonetheless is not allowed and is punishable with a fine.
Stoner’s act was seen by the race directors and immediately counter action was taken, when the stewards charged the Aussie with the fine. Randy de Puniet was stunned to hear the announcement of the fine to Stoner, while one of the other riders stated his
view on a blogging site.
Cal Crutchlow's Tweeted his opinion considering the Stoner-Puniet incident and said, "Before people start with Stoner they don't know what it's like when you’re doing 300kph down a straight and the guy in front is doing 100kph. He may have been getting out
the way but if you are on a slow lap be completely out the way!”
The Australian rider from Repsol Honda, Stoner stood above all in the warm up session at Bugatti circuit. He has sustained his dominance through the race weekend beginning from the first free practice sessions in to the last, 20-minutes warm up laps before
the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France at the legendry Le Mans circuit.
Stoner held the time sheets at top seat throughout the session, which also saw a severe accident of the Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo. The rider, Marco Simoncelli was again on the tail of Stoner and was set on second place, followed by Nicky
Hayden of the Ducati Team.
The unfortunate rider of the day was Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing who lost his rear of the bike while entering a left hand corner and headed into the gravel. His M1 caught fire but the rider was untouched and not injured.
