Casey Stoner leads the first free practice rounds at Le Mans- MotoGP News
The French track, Le Mans is known to be one of Yamaha’s favourite tracks, but the Honda fighters including Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, have won the first free practice sessions at the Le Mans in style.
The Repsol Honda trio have earned the top three places with Honda satellite rider, Marco Simoncelli in fourth place, followed by the Championship points leader Jorge Lorenzo in fifth place.
Stoner headed the session, while third round winner, Pedrosa was 0.298 seconds off the pace of Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso was 0.675 seconds behind his Australian teammate.
The Italian from San Carlo Honda Gresini, Simoncelli was 0.896 seconds behind Stoner and finally, Jorge Lorenzo was a second away from the top spot, completing the top five slots.
Jorge Lorenzo was the only man in top five without a Honda machine. He has scored two consecutive wins at the French venue in the past two seasons. The Spaniard's best lap time was 1.032 seconds slower than that of Stoner's.
The Ducati team rider, Valentino Rossi was sixth fastest on the time sheet. It was due to the newly designed chassis in his Desmosedici that Rossi suffered a bit. Rossi was followed by the French rider Randy De Puniet for Pramac Racing team. Eighth was Nicky
Hayden completing the Ducati GP11 triple seat, chased by the Monster Yamaha Tech rider Cal Crutchlow in ninth and Lorenzo’s teammate Ben Spies was at tenth place.
