Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda eager to win races for MotoGP title victory – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda team rider and current MotoGP championship leader, Casey Stoner is keen to win races in the second half of the premier class season.
The Aussie’s debut season with Repsol Honda witnessed a good start at Losail, Qatar with a win.
Only in the second race of the 2011 MotoGP season at Jerez, he was forced to retire from the race after Valentino Rossi swept him in a crash.
Casey Stoner said, “Yes. I think that without the problem of the second race, we would have been in the podium in all races this season, which I believe is something very special. I am very happy this year at the Repsol Honda Team. The bike has been working
brilliantly and even on the worst days it did not work poorly.”
The high performance note of the RCV is a sure benefit for the Aussie rider. His spontaneous riding style and awesome RC212V gives him the edge to even perform well on a bad day. This ensures his place on the podium. With five wins and additional four podium
finishes, it marks its potential.
While commenting on his best race in the season yet, he said, “I would say that my favourite race this season was, undoubtedly, Laguna Seca. We had a very difficult weekend. Since Assen, where I had a huge crash, I suffered a bit due to my injuries, because
I had a fall again in Sachsenring and things did not really go our way.”
The Aussie was confident to start the race weekend at Laguna Seca but the team was unable to properly set up the bike for the Californian circuit. However, the race day was taken with a step up and that change helped Stoner to reveal his true race pace.
The final day was victorious and fruitful for the Repsol Honda team after all the hard work and efforts made.
The Australian rider has re-extended his lead in the points table from 15 to 20 and now he will move to Czech Republic with a better confidence.
