Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda says he is undecided about the Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner has expressed his opinion about going to Japan for the MotoGP round.
He shared his views during the press meeting held Brno, Czech Republic ahead of the Cardion AB Grand Prix.
Stoner said, “I’d made my mind up and there was no way I was going to risk my wife or my family and it was very tough. But in these weeks I’ve taken a lot of data from Australia and people I feel I can trust on the matter and I’m now slightly more open to
it than I was before.”
Stoner laid his point of view that he was not willing to go to Japan because his wife is pregnant. After the Silverstone event, Stoner was almost sure not to race at the Motegi Twin Circuit.
Since the incident of Japan, he has been discussing his MotoGP visit to Motegi. However, he wants to avoid risking his family.
Stoner further added, “I was thinking a lot about the safety issues for my family but we will see in these next weeks and continue talking. I’m not saying that I’m going but I’m not saying I’m not now.”
Stoner has collected a lot of information on his own about the present situation of Japan. Even though the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) has reported that it is safe to visit Japan, Stoner is still not fully convinced to go there.
He also added that his family will not go to Japan and he might keep his visit as short as possible.
While commenting on the reaction of HRC it was said that if he denies to race at Motegi it is possible that he can face some kind of penalty. However, he has assured that there is no issue about it between HRC and him.
In the end, he said that it depends on further developments in Japan whether he goes or changes his decision. He also said that he is not claiming to boycott the Japanese GP but he is not yet sure to go there.
