Casey Stoner takes victory at 2012 Spanish Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda Team rider Casey Stoner has claimed the victory at 2012 Spanish Grand Prix held on Sunday. Moreover, it will be interesting to mention that it is the first ever win of the defending champion at Jerez circuit.
The Australian rider delivered an amazing performance on track and won the race ahead of Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing who secured the pole position in the qualifying practice. Moreover, there was a gap of 0.947 seconds between the two riders.
Besides, it is to be noted that Stoner took the lead over Pedrosa and Lorenzo in the 25th lap with an amazing manoeuvre.
Stoner’s teammate, Dani Pedrosa finished at third place after securing second grid position. Pedrosa was followed by Monster Yamaha Tech’s pair of riders, Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso. Furthermore, this is the second consecutive fourth place finish
of Crutchlow.
The Italian rider, Dovizioso stayed ahead of Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini who secured 6th place finish after starting the race from 8th grid position.
Bautista was followed by LCR Honda MotoGP rider, Stefan Bradl who set off from ninth place in the grid. The German rider remained ahead of Nicky Hayden of Ducati Team who secured eighth place finish.
The seven-time world champion, Valentino Rossi ended at 9th place which was quite convincing performance by him as he started the race from 13th place in the gird.
Hector Barbera of Pramac Racing Team came 10th and was followed by Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing. The American rider ended the race ahead of Spies teammate, Aleix Espargaro.
The Spaniard was followed by Danilo Petrucci of Came Ioda Racing Project who came 13th and showed quite reasonable performance as compared to the qualifying in which he could only managed to secure 18th grid position.
Petrucci stayed ahead of his compatriot, Mattia Pasini of Speed Master with a gap of 1 minute and 29.142 seconds.
Pasini was followed by Ivan Silva of Avintia Blusens who secured 15th place finish after qualifying for 19th place in the grid.
Colin Edwards of NGM Mobile Forward Racing came 16th after starting the race from the end of the grid. Edwards remained ahead of Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing who could not perform well in the race and finished at 17th place after starting the race
from 11th grid position.
Furthermore, Randy De Puniet of Power Electronics Aspar had a very unfortunate day as he faced some mechanical issues during the last lap and had to stop before finishing the race.
In addition, James Ellison of Paul Bird Motorsport and Michele Pirro of San Carlo Honda Gresini could not finish too while Yonny Hernandez of Avintia Blusens didn’t participated in the race.
