Casey Stoner tries to avail more out of his bike setup – MotoGP news
Stoner was the fastest king of the first two pre-season tests held at Sepang International Circuit, last month.
On the first night conclusion of final preseason test Stoner was on second place behind his teammate Dani Pedrosa, but at the opening of night he was fastest kid on the block resuming his pace, on which concluded the Sepang II test. On his fifth lap,
he was able to perform as expected.
“Everything has gone well with the bike and in general we don't have a whole lot to test here, we're just trying to get more out of the balance of the bike - both bikes have the same chassis but we tried very different riding positions,” confirmed
Stoner.
“It seems to be more difficult to get a decent lap time on the harder tires, having made my fastest time on an older soft tire, but our consistency seems to be very good also with the hardest compound. We've been trying to get a little bit more grip
and turning out of the bike and work on set-up for this circuit, focusing on race set-up,” he said.
Hiroshi Aoyama (San Carlo Honda Gresini) was less than half a second behind standing on second place, from the official Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner. Again, the two RC212Vs were king on the first night.
Ben Spies, the new kid to Factory Yamaha Racing, was 0.149 seconds off the leader covering the third place. The defending World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was first on the track, but after some laps, he stood at fourth place with 0.273 seconds off the
top beat.
The left back duo of Repsol Honda, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso was playing in to complete the top-five places. They both were the last riders to get in the half a second of their leading teammate.
Seventh and eighth were covered in following order, Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Colin Edwards and Marco Simoncelli of San Carlo Honda Gresini.
The unfortunate rider of Marlboro Ducati team, Valentino Rossi had to face an accident, while entering the turn 9 he lost the front end ran wide into gravel which cost him the lap.
At last, Rossi came out uninjured and scored the ninth place in the time sheet, by 0.857 seconds off the top fast seat, and the teammate Nicky Hayden was 1.5 seconds slower than the top fast rider.
