Casey Stoner will be resting as much as possible prior to the Malaysian Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda managed finishing the Japanese Grand Prix at the 5th position.
He believes that he could have attained better results if he had been physically fit. To attain better physical fitness he told that he will be resting as much as possible prior to the upcoming race at the Sepang circuit.
Stoner managed recovery from an accident with his right ankle. He returned to race at the Japanese GP however he faced several physical issues. He told that he is not comfortable with his ankle after the race at the Motegi circuit therefore in order to recover
further he will be resting as much as possible.
Stoner said, “My ankle isn't feeling very good after the race in Japan so I'll be resting it as much as possible this week before going on track on Friday.”
He believes that Sepang is demanding circuit therefore he should be physically however he anticipates that he will not be facing as many issue as he faced at Motegi because Sepang is smooth comparatively.
“It's going to be a hot weekend and it's a physically demanding circuit, [but] the track is a little smoother and more flowing so hopefully I won't have so many issues as I had in Japan,” he added.
This is the same circuit where Marco Simoncelli lost his life in a devastating accident, last year, at the very beginning of his career. The Honda rider expressed his feelings that it will be strange for him to race on such a circuit when Simoncelli was
with them last year.
The Australian rider said, “This weekend marks the anniversary of Marco's death so I'm sure it will be a strange feeling when we all get on track.”
The Sepang circuit is a mixture of some slow and fast corners. It contains two long straights along with 5 left and 10 right corners. It will be a test for the riders because the layout of the Malaysian circuit is very challenging and will require a lot
of effort from the riders to set-up their bike accordingly.
Let’s see how the Honda rider performs in the upcoming Malaysian GP scheduled on October 21, 2012.
